Bluegrass music is woven into the fabric of Stokes County’s rich
heritage. BBQ for Books raises funds for early literacy
initiatives for the county’s young children, including Dolly
Parton’s Imagination Library. Because of these two things, it
only made sense to add a side of bluegrass to our event!

BBQ for Books has the reputation for having spectacular
auction and game prizes!
Food served from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. John Brown’s BBQ, $15 per
plate, includes barbecue pork, fried chicken, two slaws, beans,
drink and dessert.

SPC is a non-profit organization led by local volunteers, designed to provide programs and services for families and children in Stokes County. SPC administers Smart Start funds and the NC Pre-K program from the state legislature to support programs to benefit children age birth to five and their families, is a catalyst for bringing different groups together for the sake of the children, educates the community on the critical needs of young children and helps develop solutions.
